Yes it’s true; let’s not pretend otherwise. There were a number of conservatives who made it many hours – even days – after the Alexandria park shooting that seriously injured Rep. Steve Scalise before blaming liberals for the violence. I want to recognize these people and thank them for their restraint in the immediate aftermath of the tragedy. I know it wasn’t easy for many of you, given your familiarity with habitual rage. So from me, to you…thanks. You’ve been lovely, really.
Of course I don’t have the time or space to acknowledge every deserving individual, especially when there are so many of you. But I think that Erick Erickson in particular deserves some proper recognition.
Let’s Consider Secession
By Erick Erickson | June 19, 2017, 05:00am
This past week has made me realize the situation in this country is unlikely to get better.
Erick waited five whole days before calling for the country’s dissolution. Thank you, Erick.
We have 320 million people who hate each other and the left shows no signs of toning down rhetoric after last week’s mass assassination attempt. If anything, too many of them regret there were no deaths.
He is very angry. He’s simply had enough. Though no one regretted that Steve Scalise didn’t die, Erick is pretty sure progressives have adapted this as their mantra. He has to say: It’s outrageous that anyone would think this way. Having the political opposition wish for your death would make anybody pissed, right? (If it happened.)
The basis for Erick’s roiling anger may be suspect, but it remains true that there are too many unhinged partisans out there. There are too many Twitter eggs bringing the tenor of discourse down. We all agree that politics can be done without employing hateful rhetoric. We can talk about the news of the day without resorting to calls for destruction, or violence. Then again if you simply have to be nasty about something, at least be honest. At least have the decency to identify yourself and stand by what you said.
The nation loses the only goat fucking child molester to ever serve on the Supreme Court in David Souter's retirement.

…which is why it’s reassuring to see this in Erickson’s Twitter feed eight years later. Good on you, Erick.
At the same time, the left would have us believe that there is more violence on the right where history itself shows that is not true. From Nazism to Communism to progressivism itself, there has been more butchery from leftwing ideologies…
…throughout human history than from the right — and yes despite popular historic revisionism, Nazism is from the left and had an American progressive fan club that included Margaret Sanger, patron saint of killing kids.
We are The Nazis. Again, of course. He supports a white supremacist president whose fans are beating minorities in the streets, but Erick thinks it’s we who are the Schutzstaffel. The left wing of American politics is where Jews feel more comfortable, but Erick thinks it’s obviously the Third Reich. Imagine that. Try this on: When former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor resigned from Congress in 2014, the Republicans were reduced to zero Jewish members. Not a single one, in their entire caucus. Erickson is not exactly thinking straight here.
And let’s dispense with the Sanger charge. Here she is in 1939:
The first thing I want to say in relation to my attitude regarding the present War and World Peace is that before Hitler came into power in Germany I was one of the few Americans who joined the Anti-Nazi Committee and gave money, my name and any influence I had with writers and others, to combat Hitler’s rise to power in Germany.
My attitude was open & above board as my name was on the stationery and periodicals and leaflets which were distributed by this Comm over Germany, Scandinavia, England, and Italy and the United States.
She was a full-throated Antifa. This is while men like George Prescott Bush were doing business with you-know-who. But let’s get to the ironic part shall we? Because that’s more fun. Take a look at Erick’s Twitter page. Notice anything remarkable about it?
That massive black eagle, maybe? Where the hell did that image come from? Oh I see. It’s part of the logo he chose for his red white and blue website.
Lovely. It tops his website’s shield (OH brother). The Resurgent has itself a coat of vertical stripes proudly crested with a black eagle (REALLY Erick?). Rendered flatly, head in profile, and wings spread. What a handsome display, don’t you think? Some might look at that and call it ‘dramatic’, or ‘striking’. Zen again, zum ozzers vood say it vaaz historisch.
I mean, c’mon.
Und zen zis von:
Pretty funny, coming from a political blogger who’s banging away about our cluelessness. As if, you know, we should know better than to do such stupid shit or ERICK WILL BE LEAVING.
Anyway, where were we? Ah yes, to recap. We’ve got this guy…
…calling for the destruction of our country. Because the anti-Trumpists have become so wild-eyed and desperate in their rhetoric they can’t be lived with anymore. Do note how similar Erick’s patter is to a certain 1930s ideologue who inveighed routinely against the homeland’s progressives, the Commies and the Jews:
In our present atmosphere there is no escape from the American ISIS that is the political left. Evil preaches tolerance until it is dominant and then it seeks to silence good. Evil is now dominant.
Also note: Liberals are a problem. They’ve become like domestic terrorists… The Nazis of Tolerance. Their penchant for trying to silence the likes of Erick and his pals (the “good”) is driving America down the road to Auschwitz. Pretty soon they’ll be piling up the bodies of Trump and Conway and Erickson in their PC camps, and what sort of country is that? After they forced gay marriage and gender-neutral bathrooms on us, what else did you expect? It’s the only possible thing that could have happened next. Seriously, take heed: Anti-Fascism is the new Fascism.
Which is of course why Erick took a stand:
We all should seriously think about seceding from the United States. If nothing else, Erick is merely asking that a few million of his pals consider coming along with him. And HERE, apropos of nothing, is a picture of Adolf Hitler declaring war on America:
This is the same America that, y’know, Erick can’t stand to be part of anymore. Because everybody else is unhinged.
